At Google I/O today, Google has finally announced that Google Assistant will allow you to manually enter queries via text. Previously, users could only call on Google Assistant through voice, which would prevent many people from using it in public due to the awkwardness. This will solve one of the major reasons why people choose not to use Google Assistant, but Google isn't stopping there.
Since Google Assistant was previously only accessible to English-speaking Android smartphones users running Android 6.0+, the service was inaccessible to the vast majority of users. Now, the company has announced that Google Assistant will be available to all users on iOS as well.
Furthermore, Google Assistant will now be able to recognize and speak back in French, German, Brazilian, Portuguese, and Japanese, with support for Italian, Spanish, and Korean coming by the end of this year.
Lastly, as previously announced through the Google Assistant SDK, companies will begin to sell products with Google Assistant built-in. Just look for a special logo stating that Assistant is built-in when shopping this summer.
