Marshmallow bug with restricted profile or just K1?

I suppose this question is for all the parents out there who let their child use the K1 with a restricted profile. Strangely, after creating restricted profiles for my sons, and granting them permission to certain apps (games), new application installations will not show up as allowable under restricted profile settings. For example, I just installed FIFA, and although I can play it, I cannot grant the restricted profile access to this app. It simply does not show up in the list of apps that I, as the "admin", can allow or deny.

Furthermore, if I try to create a new restricted profile in addition to the one already present, none of the newer apps show up on that list either. I contacted Google, and they seemed to be able to reproduce this bug on a Nexus 9. The only fix they offered was a factory reset. That would wipe all the data from my son's other games, which they're quite find of. Clearing cache in recovery changed nothing.

Any thoughts? Is this a Marshmallow bug? Is there a workaround?
TIA
