What's breaking the K1 OTA for me, root or twrp?

Is it root itself that breaks the ota (it just loops and never applies) or is it that I don't have the stock recovery?

(Which im kinda annoyed by, as the guide I read to root said it was required to flash twrp, but I just read a way to do the same thing with the stock recovery)
